I listened to this week’s message from North Point Ministries in Atlanta this morning. The preacher challenged everyone to recite what he calls The Jesus Creed first thing in the morning and last thing when you got into bed and any other time you thought about it during the day.
The Jesus Creed is Matt 22:37-39 and based on the Hebrew Shema found in Deut. 6:5.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (ESV)
A variation on the Shema may be found in I Corinthians 8:6 by the Apostle Paul:
yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
So, let’s join together in July to remember every morning, every evening that we are to love the Lord and our neighbors… being sensitive and obedient to His call and how we are to practically exercise these statements of faith.
