Don’t Misunderstand

I’ve done this for 5 days in a row! I should get a cookie or something. I haven’t blogged this consistently since I was back at the Pink Kitty’s Scratching Post and trying to make a name for myself as a snarky female politically minded blogger.

Meh.

So today’s prompt:

The biggest misconception you think people have about single life.

That I am always busy. Or that I’m never busy.

That my time is their time. Or that my time is my time.

That I am a gourmet. Or that I can barely operate a microwave.

That I have no ambitions or hopes. Or that my ambitions have kept me from a family.

That I’m too picky. Or that I have no standards.

That I have it all. Or that I have nothing.

(Form inspired by Andi Cumbo-Floyd’s “Lyric Essay” lesson from her Creative Nonfiction course. Her classes are a good investment for any writer.)

I really like this series. I’m 38 and still single. So much of this resonates with me.

Thank you! It’s been a challenge – both to write it and stare at myself in the course of it!
